Opossums
The opossum is one of the few mammals that are considered prehistoric. It appears sluggish but is quite capable of raiding chicken coops, bird nests, and also raising havoc on garbage cans.
Breeding during the months of January through July, opossums can have up to two litters per year. After being bred by a Jack, or male opossum, the Jill, or female opossum, will give birth approximately two weeks later when the Joey, or kit, will crawl into her pouch for another 8 weeks.
Opossums are the only marsupials in North America and are known to be nest raiders.
The idea that opossums eat a lot of ticks has been proven to not be true in the wild, outside of a controlled environment.
